But relaxation itself is not enough. It has to be accompanied by mindfulness, attentiveness and action. Thinking is great. But action makes things happen. Action takes energy, so where does that energy come from? It comes from within. Inspiration is a powerful force, and inspired action is one of the most powerful ways to motivate yourself. Carrots and sticks are usually external forms of motivation. Instead, if you inspire yourself, you light your fire from the inside out.

Be decisive: Decide. Instead, decide on something you want, and test it. Take action and test your results. Find some role models: A key ingredient for living an inspired bold life is to find role models that we can emulate and imitate — people who help us find ourselves in the process. Take a few minutes to close your eyes and remember your successes, however small — relive and feel into them.

Take a moment to write down three reasons you want to find motivation to get things done. Do you want to improve your fitness, get an education, save money, or start a business?

Keep coming up with answers until you find ones that will help you stay motivated. Distractions are the enemy of focus. If you want to get motivated, you have to eliminate distractions. So, turn your phone off and leave it in a different room. Close the door. Turn the music off. Delete distracting apps. Then, remember what you truly want in the long-term. Is it tidy, neat, and clean? Or is it messy and cluttered? Work from the outside in and create an environment that helps you to stay motivated.

Listen to motivational podcasts , check out a must-read book , or watch some inspiring videos. This can help you to freshen up, get energized, and find motivation to get things done. So, when possible, seek out enthusiastic, motivated people to spend time with. Let yourself get wrapped up in their positive energy, and you may start developing self-motivation, too. Whether you are an artist that wants to produce more creative work; a person with a specific goal in work, education, or fitness; or simply someone who wants to regain enthusiasm for life, learn to get back in touch with the well of inspiration present in all of us.

Change your question. One simple way to improve results here is to find a routine for eating, sleeping, and moving or working out that supports you. Spending too much time in your weaknesses wears you down.

Spending more time in your strengths helps you renew your energy and find your flow.
