How is marceline a vampire
In the following years, Marceline roamed the Land of Ooo and eventually befriended a tribe of humans. These humans wore animal hats, presumably to hide the fact they were indeed humans. At first, they were understandably fearful of Marceline, however, after following them for some time, a member of the group, Two Bread Tom , sat down and played the guitar to the few remaining members of their group.
Marceline heard this, and sat down behind a bush to play the same song Tom was playing. Because of this, they viewed Marceline in a brighter light, and realized she was just trying to keep them safe.
She became their guardian and ally, and she helped them kill vampires, who had taken over much of the land. Marceline soon discovered that, upon killing a vampire, she was able to acquire their unique abilities thanks to her demonic power to absorb souls.
However, when she tried to fight the Vampire King herself, he pinned her down and bit her. Although she eventually managed to slay him, she was turned in the process, becoming the last vampire in Ooo.
Marceline gifted her a Rock T-shirt during a music performance and they became romantically involved. However, Marceline didn't take the whole thing seriously and bugged Bubblegum for attention causing her to lash out and tell her to go home. Hurt, Marceline sung an angry song to her about how she didn't care about her or her "stupid Candy Kingdom". Marceline's song managed to defeat the dragon but this signified the end of her and Bubblegum's relationship. Later, she began a romantic relationship with a magician named Ash.
How they met is still unknown. The two would move into the Tree House , but their relationship would come to an end after Ash sold Hambo, her most prized possession, to Maja the Sky Witch. Marceline eventually comes into contact with Finn and Jake when she forces them from their home. However, she returns it to them after finding the cave they found a better place for her.
However, Finn soon discovers that Marceline is not evil, but rather fond of mischief and pranks. Soon thereafter, the two develop a friendship. When Marceline invites Finn over to help her record a song about how her father ate her fries, Finn decides to summon Abadeer to Ooo in hopes of them reconciling. While Abadeer ravages the land, Finn discovers that there is animosity between Marceline and her father. Finn manages to distract Abadeer by playing a recording of Marceline's "Fry Song", which leads to a brief moment of reconciliation between the two before Finn sends him back to the Nightosphere.
Marceline's ex-boyfriend, Ash, attempts to rekindle his former relationship with Marceline via trickery. Disguised as Marceline's "spirit animal", he tricks Finn and Jake into believing that Marceline has fallen asleep due to a sleep spell that has been self-inflicted.
Following Ash's advice, the two enter into Marceline's mind to retrieve the "memory core" in an attempt to wake her up.
Along the way, they encounter various memories of her as a child in the aftermath of the Mushroom War. However, the duo soon learn that it was an elaborate trick by Ash; Finn and Jake actually removed Marceline's memory of their break-up.
In the end, Finn is able to convince Marceline, and she promptly attacks her chauvinistic ex-boyfriend. Marceline's dad eventually returns and gives her an amulet that causes her to become the demonic and evil overlord of the Nightosphere.
After an ordeal, Finn saves Marceline from the amulet. Marceline admits that all she wants is for her father to understand her and who she is a person. Some time later, Marceline enlists the help of Princess Bubblegum, and the two are able to track down Maja, the titular Sky Witch.
It is revealed that Ash sold Hambo to Maja. Only when Bubblegum trades her beloved rock shirt—which was given to her by Marceline—is Hambo able to be reunited with Marceline. After being contacted by Simon Petrikov, the Ice King's original persona who resurfaced after he lost his powers, Marceline sacrifices Hambo so that he can open a portal into time so that Simon can reconcile with his estranged fiancee Betty.
With that being said, the two manage to more fully reunite, and as such, manage to affirm how much they care for one another. Having grown tired of being a vampire and wanting to "Grow up", Marceline asked Bubblegum to extract her vampiric essence, in an attempt to make her mortal once again.
The reappearance of these vampires forces Marceline, Bubblegum, Finn, Jake, and Peppermint Butler to stake them one-by-one. After finally defeating The Vampire King, his essence is removed, however, Peppermint Butler accidentally spills it, causing an explosion that releases his essence.
Marceline wanted to give up during this time, but Ice King sat down with her, and essentially called her a coward. This managed to motivate her to try, and she defeated The Vampire King with the aid of Princess Bubblegum, Finn, and Jake, but was bit once again the process. While she was turned into a vampire again, she had come to terms with who she was, and was happy to be immortal, as she could hang out with Princess Bubblegum forever.
Marceline is temporarily transformed by elemental magic into " Marshmaline the Campfire Queen ," a sentient marshmallow creature. In her candy form, Marceline is gregarious and playful, but a bit naive about the nature of the new world around her; for instance, when an enraged Flame Princess attacks her, Marceline mistakes the assault for "wrasslin.
Marceline's father returns to Ooo and attends one of her concerts, cheering her on way too loud in the crowd, though this was well-intentioned. While he initially embarrasses his daughter and eventually causes a ghost fight to break out, by the end of the episode, Marceline is touched that her father was willing to support her. After one of GOLB's monstrosities very nearly kills the princess, Marceline rushes to her side, and after a tender moment, the two affirm that they care for one another, and share a kiss.
Following his escape from Golb, Marceline comforts Simon in the wake of his loss of Betty. During the episode's epilogue, Marceline and Bubblegum are shown sitting together on a couch under a blanket while watching Finger Puppets, and they both touch heads. A few years later, Princess Bubblegum has moved in with Marceline at her house when they are called back to the Glass Kingdom after the dragon reappears, and Marceline comes face to face with her past.
When her old song is unable to stop the dragon, she attempts to get inspiration for an even sadder and angrier song by revisiting the old hide-out her mother sent her to as a kid but instead finds a sense of acceptance.
When they are trapped in a cave, facing possible death, she instead sings a love song affirming her love to Bonnibel which also successfully gets through to the dragon who releases his true self, no longer a danger to the kingdom. Unlike traditional Western vampires, Marceline subsists not off blood, but rather the color red including "low-grade" shades such as pink.
Having spent centuries traversing the Land of Ooo, she has evolved into a "fearless daredevil", [37] and her fondness for mischief has turned her into something of a trickster. Consequently, in her first role, Marceline functions as the antagonist of the story, forcing Finn and Jake from their home. The surprising and sad connection between Marceline and the series villain the Ice King was not the first back story reveal, but it was certainly the biggest, and in turn introduced a whole new layer of depth to the series while making a lot of viewers cry, but more on that later.
Of course, being a 1,year-old half-demon, half-vampire, Marceline has plenty of history predating this friendship. In addition to being a vampire queen, Marceline is the daughter of Hunson Abadeer, the immortal ruler of the Nightosphere, a demon dimension. Hunson apologizes and reassures his daughter that he loves her.
Now that he understands Marceline has no interest in ruling the Nightosphere, the father-daughter pair have a pleasant if long-distance relationship. Besides her demon attributes and abilities, Marceline also inherited her signature ax bass from her father. The family heirloom was originally a battle ax that Marceline converted into a bass guitar. In order to save Marcy, Simon would have to rely on magic from the crown. Magic that kept them alive, but slowly stripped Simon of his sanity and memories until all that remained was Ice King.
When Marceline finally tracked down Maja, she turned to the pink-haired Bubblegum for help to steal back Hambo. As mentioned, Bubblegum is the one who gets Hambo back from Maja by trading her T-shirt for the bear. A T-shirt that Maja finds more valuable than Hambo because of the sentimental feelings it is steeped in. A T-shirt that just happens to be an old gift from Marceline that Bubblegum uses as a pajama shirt.
However, the series has yet to reveal what drove them apart. It is also shown that after parting ways with Simon, in her early teens she began hunting vampires to protect the humans who survived following the Mushroom War.
Using the soul sucking ability she learned from her father, Marceline was able to absorb the souls of the Vampires she killed to obtain some of their unique abilities, allowing her to become powerful enough drive the vampire race to the verge of extinction. Also during this time she befriended a tribe of surviving humans lead by Two Bread Tom and protected them from vampires. She was eventually confronted by the Vampire King who she fought in a epic battle. During the climax of their fight Marceline was bitten by the Vampire King as she killed him with a stake to the heart, which she discovers was his way of making sure his species survived, by turning Marceline into a vampire.
In the present, Marceline decides she no longer wants to be a Vampire anymore and asks Princess Bubblegum to cure her of her vampirism. However by doing so the vampires she absorbed in the past are revived including the Vampire King and she loses all the abilities she absorbed from them forcing her to hunt them down.
Though initially she tries fighting them alone, after Princess Bubblegum helps her defeat The Empress , she lets Bonnibel, Finn, and Jake help her hunt down the remaining vampires. After reabsorbing most of her powers she once again confronts the Vampire King who claims to have changed though Marceline is initially skeptical, though eventually learns that the Vampire King also wishes to be free of his vampirism as well and she has Bonnibel remove the Vampire King's vampire essences turning him back into his former self, a lion.
However when the Vampire King's essence is accidentally unleashed it creates a mindless Dark Cloud in the form of a Lion resembling the Vampire King which begins terrorizing the Land of Ooo and threatens the Candy Kingdom. However Marceline blames herself for all that has happened, having realized that it was her hunting vampires that started it and loses her will to fight, leaving Finn, Jake, and Bonnibel to deal with the Cloud without her.
However she regains her will to fight after talking with Ice King and rushes to aid her friends in defeating the Dark Cloud by absorbing it. However as she is absorbing it, it bites her neck before being completely consumed by Marceline, transforming her into a Vampire once more. However Marceline decides she is okay with life as a vampire and implies that confronting her past has helped her mature.
Marceline's pale bluish skin, pointed ears and fangs are all similar to those of her father and could have been genetically inherited from him. According to writer Adam Muto , Marceline's father is a demon, not a vampire. In another painting, Hunson is holding Marceline as a baby. Marceline appears to prefer clothing and hairstyles from the s through the s the most [ citation needed ]. Marceline was born half-human and half-demon, and additionally became a vampire later on.
She stated that she was half demon in " Finn the Human ," so her extra non-vampire powers might be a result of this like her ability to change into various monster forms including bats, wolves and tentacle beasts.
She was most likely born a humanoid with vampire-like features and got bitten, turning her into a vampire. It is possible that not all vampires have all her abilities, the Adventure Time Spooktacular 1 Boom Comics suggests certain vampires have unique powers, which is later proven to be true in the Stakes minseries. However some abilities e. Character designer Andy Ristaino has stated she is "kinda a shape changer" though, [6] so this could explain her growth.
In the "fries" memory, the teenage Marceline wanted to eat fries, something that vampires presumably would not be interested in except for the ketchup, since they commonly consume shades of red, if not blood, in this current universe. She also doesn't appear to have bite marks, both these factors indicating she is not a vampire yet. The line "why did you leave me" may have to do with Marceline's father's absence during the flashbacks when she was shown in the post-apocalyptic city.
The song suggests Marceline does not understand his reason for leaving her, and goes on to imply that he is always off on "business trips" [see below], which may be a metaphor for his duties in the Nightosphere. However, the song lyrics in general may just refer to his not being very involved in her life altogether. Also, since the original lyrics were not aired, they might not be entirely credible in the context of the show. Marceline emphasizes that she sees her dad very rarely.
The incident during which he eats her fries might be one of his rare visits, and even then he finds himself hurting Marceline's feelings.
Overall, the feeling is conveyed through Marceline's dialogue and songs that she wishes her father was more present in her life, and implies he could make more of an effort to be with her. Hunson Abadeer's apparent lack of responsibility and involvement might be accounted for by his responsibilities and personality as The Lord of Evil and ruler of the Nightosphere.
A picture of Hunson Abadeer , Marceline , and unknown woman on the right, previously considered as Marceline's mom. In " Henchman ," Marceline says that she "kinda likes" the pain she feels when she's in sunlight because it reminds her of when she would scrape her knees when she was a kid and her mom would "patch her up. It is because her mother is human and not immortal that she wasn't with Marceline during or after the war. In "Memory of a Memory" and "I Remember You" she is shown, as a child, outdoors and not being burned by the sun.
Being able to move about without protection could be explained by a large quantity of fallout in the atmosphere, which could have blocked out a large amount of the ultraviolet rays. This is supported by the burning city viewable in the back ground, or may have somehow been caused by a nuclear explosion, yet it may be because she was not a vampire at the time.
